Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

This popular beverage has been taken for several years due to the numerous health benefits that are related to it. This drink can be used to replace fluids in the body because it is free of calories unless you choose to add some milk or sweetener to it. You can get adequate amounts of fluid from this beverage if you take about 7 cups. If you do not like the taste of plain water, you can buy tea and still get your required daily intake of fluids.

You should also buy tea because of the antioxidant properties that the drink contains. This property is essential because it prevents the body cells from getting damaged by free radicals. The antioxidants are also helpful for your health because they reduce the risk of getting cancer. They also help to maintain healthy veins and arteries and this guards against strokes and heart diseases.

The Tasty and Inexpensive Seafood Option

Saturday, August 20th, 2011

It is obvious to anyone who loves seafood at dinnertime what a great piece of fish looks like. If you love wild Alaska salmon or Cod, you look for the healthiest, clearest skin and texture. Wild shrimp and scallops are also without imperfections if they are frozen and stored properly. However, most people aren’t aware of the tasty and inexpensive seafood option of Alaska Surimi.

What is Alaska Surimi? First of all, contrary to some erroneous reports circulating around the rumor mill, Surimi is definitely real seafood. The main ingredient is Alaska Pollock, the white fish known for its clean flavor and excellent texture. When making Surimi, this Pollock serves as a base, to which is added shellfish from Alaska. Pieces of shrimp, scallops and even lobster or crab give the true flavor of the finished product. It is packaged and sold in a few different forms – as chunk meat or as legs – and can be stored and used whenever the mood strikes you.

Crockpot Dessert Recipes

Wednesday, August 10th, 2011

One of the things I most love about my crockpots is that you can make breakfast, lunch, dinner and even dessert in them.

I’d like to share a few dessert recipes with you. This first recipe is a chocolate cake that uses a boxed cake mix. I find them on sale and then buy them for later use.

1 box of chocolate cake mix
1 small box of chocolate sugar free pudding
4 eggs
1 cup water
¾ cup oil
12 ounce container of low fat or fat free sour cream

Mix all ingredients together and pour into the crockpot. Cook on low about 6 hours. Allow to cool about 2 hours before removing from crockpot.
