Little effort has been made to promote the nutritional benefits of goat meat, and sell a growing number of people who want to eat healthy foods. Meat goats reported by U. S. It is high in vitamin B12 and has balanced amino acids. Because goats are livestock, meat goats are a good source of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), fatty acids that prevent and treat cancer and many inflammatory diseases in laboratory animals. Results of clinical studies with CLA in humans are still pending. There is a real potential to expand the market for goat meat by promoting the values of health and nutrition.
